State to Honor Dante Love at Saturday’s Game and
Remainder of Season

| MUNCIE,
Ind. -- The Ball State University athletics department has
put together a variety of ways to honor Dante Love (#86), who
suffered a cervical spine fracture and spinal cord injury at
last Saturday’s football game at Indiana.

Ind. -- Derrick Henry
(Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne H.S.),
a sophomore defensive back on the Ball State
University football team, was named the
Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive
Player of the Week for his performance in Ball
State’s 42-20 win at Indiana last Saturday. |

joins MiQuale
Lewis (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider H.S.) as
a recipient for a MAC weekly honor. Lewis
was earlier named the MAC West Offensive Player of
the Week for his achievements in the Indiana game.

Released by Ball State Athletics Monday (9/22/08): |
| Due to the nature of
Dante Love’s injury during Ball State’s football game at
Indiana Sept. 20, his football playing career is expected to be
over. However, after a rehabilitation period, he is expected
to be able to live a normal and healthy life. On behalf of his
family, the Ball State family and the Muncie community, we truly
appreciate all the thoughts and prayers. We continue to keep
Dante Love and his family in all our thoughts as he begins the
rehabilitation process. Ball State University would like to
publicly thank those who assisted Dante and his family during
the emergency, including the Indiana State Police, the IU
athletic training and medical staff, Dr. Callahan and Dr.
Horner, Indiana University’s game operations and athletic
staff and the Bloomington and Methodist Hospital doctors and
staff.
