Rob Mathews: What is the most important thing you’ll take with you from your Ball State basketball experience?
Rob Owens: Just how to be a better teammate probably. How to get guys motivated; how to get myself motivated. To appreciate the game. Just come in day in and day out and work hard - just like you do in a regular job or if you’re playing basketball.
Rob Mathews: What is the one thing that really sticks out in your mind that you have learned from Coach Buckley?
Rob Owens: Teamwork – not trying to take on all of the load by yourself. Trust your teammates.  Learn to work with other people. Come in early. Take your job seriously and do it to the best of your abilities.
Rob Mathews: How is school going?
Rob Owens: It’s good. I’ll be done first summer session.
Rob Mathews: What is the difference between the Ball State team right now and the Ball State team of just two weeks ago?
Rob Owens: I don’t think there is so much of a difference. I think we’re playing better offensively, but we’ve always tried to do the same things defensively. Everything is starting to come together right now, which is the best time for it to come together – right before the MAC tournament. If we can keep this going, that’s great.
Rob Mathews: What kind of a legacy do you want to leave behind?
Rob Owens: Just to keep getting better everyday. I’ve tried to do that throughout my career – just to try to keep getting better every year. That’s what I want to leave on – just to work hard in the off season and work hard with your teammates, because when you do that your career is going to go much better.
Rob Mathews: It goes fast, doesn’t it?
Rob Owens: Oh, yeah, it does.
Rob Mathews: Rob, thanks for your time and best of luck to you.
Rob Owens: Thanks.
