| Rob Mathews:
Can you talk
about the newcomers both individually and as a group? |
| Tim
Buckley:
Well, we’ll have size now for about the first time in two years. |
|
Anthony Kent still has a
ways to go in terms of being game ready, but at the same time I think he
understands how we want to play and what we want to do and he continues to
get better. |
|
Charles Bass, obviously,
his second injury set him back quite a bit, but I think he can come in and
help us in conference play, particularly on the defensive end, and hopefully
sharpen his offensive skills along the way. |
|
Landon Adler and Anthony
Newell have both been very pleasant surprises. |
|
Anthony Newell is a
tremendous athlete. He’s really a good rebounder. And the one thing that
we thought he had that has really come out is his ability to defend. |
|
| Rob Mathews:
With Adler’s injury, is
he someone that you might look to redshirt? |
| Tim
Buckley:
With all of the luck
we’ve had with injuries over the past two years (laugh)…We kind of take it
one day at a time. We won’t make that decision…our plan is for him to come
in and help us and give us some depth. |
|
| Rob Mathews:
What does he bring to
the table? |
| Tim
Buckley:
Well, he can shoot the ball. He shot 40% from three in high school and led
the state in rebounding. I think rebounding translates from high school to
college and from college to the pros, so hopefully he gets back to where
he’ll be able to rebound the ball. |
|
| Rob Mathews:
Can you talk about the
group as a whole and how they are gelling? |
| Tim Buckley:
They have great
chemistry. They enjoy each other. They have fun together. The last piece
of the whole thing is now they’ve got to make each other accountable, and
when they do that we have a chance to be a pretty good basketball team. |
