MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State men's basketball team will hold a
private practice for Ball State students Nov. 3 beginning at 4 p.m. in Worthen Arena. The practice, named
For Students Only, will
provide BSU students a behind-the-scenes opportunity to see the men's
basketball team. In addition, students are encouraged to stay and
attend the women's basketball exhibition game vs. Ohio Legends at 7
p.m. |
|
"Last season the student section was the MVP of our games," says BSU
head coach Tim Buckley. "Our basketball team recognizes and
appreciates what the students bring to our games. We are on the verge
of creating something special with the student section. This event is
a way to thank our students for their support and to create a buzz for
the upcoming season." |
|
Ball State students with a valid I.D. will be the only fans allowed
to attend the event. Students will be invited to watch practice from
4 p.m. until 5 p.m., while a post-practice party with the men's
basketball team is slated to begin at Gate Three of Worthen Arena
immediately following the practice. |
|
Ball State student group KM Squared will provide live music on the
concourse, while Skyline Chili will provide free coney dogs to the
first 1,000 students. In addition, the first 1,000 students who
attend the practice will receive a free CD case courtesy of MITS.
Pepsi will also provide drinks. The official 2004-05 Ball State
Basketball "Matrix" Poster will also be available free to students
courtesy of C.S. Kern. |
|
Also surrounding the event will be the debut of
November Madness -- a new
student promotion which will award one lucky BSU student with a $500
cash prize for naming the student section. The contest to name the
student section is open to any BSU student with a valid I.D., however,
to enter the contest, they must attend the Nov. 3 practice. The first
100 students who enter the contest will receive a free BSU basketball
t-shirt. |
|
All entries received Nov. 3, will be reviewed by a committee
comprised of the men's basketball team and athletics department
personnel. The committee will select 16 names to be seeded
randomly in an NCAA Tournament type bracket. Visitors to The Official Web Site
of Ball State Athletics at www.ballstatesports.com, will then be
prompted to vote for their favorite student section name. |
|
The winners will advance into a final four and championship game to
determine the name of the student section for the 2004-05 season. The
student who submits the winning name will be recognized at the Dec. 1
home opener and awarded the $500 cash prize. |
