FROM BALL STATE SPORTS INFORMATION

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Senior Dennis Trammell (Chicago, Ill./Westinghouse H.S.), who graduated from Ball State with a degree in business management Dec. 19, has been selected to the five-member ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Team as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
With his selection, Trammell will now be on the ballot for Academic All-America honors which will be announced later this month.
A Ball State men’s basketball player has earned academic all-district honors just seven times in school history.  Matt McCollom was a first-team recipient in 2003, while Patrick Jackson earned the distinction in 2001 and 2002.  Jeff Robbins was selected in 1992, while Rick Hall was named to the team in 1988 and 1989.
Through 22 games this season, Trammell leads the team with 16.6 points per game.  He is shooting 46 percent from the field, 48 percent from three-point range and 81 percent from the free throw line.  Trammell posted his fifth 20-plus scoring game of the year with 21 points in Wednesday’s setback to Bowling Green.  He has paced the Cardinals in scoring eight times this season and in 16 games in his career.
In addition, Trammell has scored in double figures in 20 of BSU’s 22 games this season and in 40 of a possible 50 games in his career at Ball State.  He was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week earlier this season, plus poured in a career high 38 points against Marshall Feb. 6.  He drilled a Ball State and Worthen Arena record eight three-point field goals in that game, plus currently ranks ninth on BSU’s single-season chart for three-point field goals in a season with 59.
The Cardinals, 12-10 overall and 7-7 in the MAC, return to action with a 5 p.m contest against Drexel Saturday at Worthen Arena.  The game is part of the 2005 ESPN Bracket Buster event.
