FROM BALL STATE SPORTS INFORMATION

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Michael Bennett, who completed his playing career as a four-year letterwinner on the Ball State men’s basketball team in 2005, has joined the program as Director of Basketball Operations, according to head coach Tim Buckley.  Bennett will assist with academics, scheduling, practice planning, film exchange and game film editing, among other duties.
Bennett replaces former BSU administrative assistant Chad Briscoe, who departed in August to become an assistant coach at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa.

“Michael is obviously a great addition to our staff,” Buckley said.  “Michael has wanted to work in the basketball profession for some time.  We have always felt he was our coach on the floor and now he has the opportunity to stay in the profession and with our program.  He has a tremendous future in this business.”
Bennett played in 111 games in his Ball State career, including 28 last season as a senior.  He scored a season-high 10 points against Eastern Michigan (1/31/05) and pulled in a season and career-best seven rebounds at Toledo (1/12/05).
Prior to Ball State, the 6-foot-5 utility man, helped Brebeuf to the Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A State Championship and was named an Indiana All-Star and an Associated Press All-State Second Team selection.
Bennett graduated from Ball State with a degree in general studies in May of 2004.
