The Series

First Meeting
  • Northern Colorado scored a 75-68 exhibition victory over Colorado Mines on November 1st.

  • Northern Colorado will compete in Division 1 as a member of the Big Sky Conference for the first time in the 2006-2007 season although they will not be eligible for the conference championship or a birth in the NCAA Tournament.

  • Northern Colorado is riding a 17 game road losing streak. Their last road victory was at Longwood on February 4, 2005.

  • Included in the road losing streak is a 63-71 loss at IPFW which is the most recent game Northern Colorado has played against a team from the state of Indiana. Other Indiana teams they have played are Anderson 1957 (1-0), Butler 1977 (0-1), DePauw 1978 (0-1), Valparaiso 1978 and 1979 (2-0), and Purdue 1978 (0-1)

  • Northern Colorado is 1-2 against teams who are currently in the MAC but the only MAC team they ever played was Eastern Michigan who they lost to in the 2003-04 season. The other MAC team they have played was Akron who they played in 1950 and 1954 before Akron was in the MAC.

  • Northern Colorado has played numerous interesting teams in the past including the Chihuahua State Shaking Dogs, Piggly Wiggly, Continental Airlines, Lockheed Aircraft, Old Mexico, Coors Brewery, Phillips 66, Universal Pictures, the Fort Collins VFW, the Colorado Springs YMCA, and the American Beauty School who they did manage to beat. They were not so lucky against many of the others including Piggly Wiggly who whipped them 6 out of 7 times.

  • Northern Colorado has boosted it's schedule significantly in the past few years playing many big name opponents. Northern Colorado's 2006-2007 schedule features games against Purdue, Colorado and Colorado State, Oregon State, Arizona State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, and Air Force.
