Ball State Names Honorary Coaches for Saturday’s Spring Game (04/20/2006)

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State’s football team has selected five individuals to assist as honorary coaches at Saturday’s annual Cardinal and White Game at Noon at Scheumann Stadium.
Terry Bennett, a fifth-grade student at West View Elementary School, will serve as the game’s Master Coach. Bennett is one of Ball State’s most loyal fans and is battling Ewings Sarcoma Cancer, which is a cancer that usually starts in bone or in soft tissue. Bennett, who will be attending middle school next fall and is an avid fan of football and baseball plus is an excellent bowler, will be accompanied at the game by his mother Pam Bennett, her friend Tom Dalton and Terry’s friend Drake Stahl.
Ball State first-year athletics director Tom Collins and Muncie Police Chief Joe Winkle will also serve as honorary coaches. Karen Adkins, the assistant director of dining services at Ball State, and Lou George, the service supervisor in the BSU transportation department, will be the other honorary coaches.
Saturday’s scrimmage will mark the end of Spring Practice for the Cardinals as they prepare for the 2006 season.
