Cardinals Busted By Broncos (10/21/2006)

Football 1 2 3 4 Final

  • The Cardinals scored a field goal on their first possession.
  • Western Michigan answered with a touchdown.
  • Nate Davis threw three interceptions in the first 15:07 of the game. After the third, which was returned for a Western Michigan touchdown, Nate was benched and Joey Lynch played the rest of the game.
  • The only thing that kept BSU in the game in the first half were two fumble recoveries by Erik Keys and a fine second quarter performance by Joey Lynch.
  • Ball State drove to the 1 yard line in the closing seconds of the first half but had to settle for a field goal. This set the tone for the rest of the game.
  • The only thing that slowed Western down in the second half was their own desire to eat up the clock by running the ball. Had the Broncos wanted to, they probably could have put up more than the 57 points they did last year in the 5 overtime game which BSU won in Kalamazoo.
  • The offensive line didn't give Joey Lynch time to throw the ball in the second half and Joe spent a lot of time on his back. At times it was a horror show with Broncos flying across the line unblocked and throwing Joey Lynch to the turf quite violently.
