Football Players Receive All-America Honors (12/11/2006)

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Three members of the Ball State University football team – Nate Davis (Bellaire, Ohio/Bellaire H.S.), Darius Hill (Blue Springs, Mo./ Blue Springs H.S.) and Chris Miller (Libertyville , Ill./Carmel H.S.) -- each received honorable mention on All-America teams this season.
Davis received honorable mention on The Sporting News Freshman All-American Team, while Hill and Miller received honorable mention on the SI.com All-America Team.
Davis, a true freshman quarterback who started seven games this season, completed 150-of-245 passes for 1,975 yards with 18 touchdowns. The 18 TD passes tied a Ball State single-season school record, while the passing yards ranks as the fourth-best single-season mark in BSU annals. Davis also received Ball State ’s John Hodge Award as Ball State ’s most outstanding freshman.
Hill, a sophomore wide receiver, tied a Ball State single-season record with 10 touchdown receptions. He managed 42 catches for 741 yards and a 17.6 yards per-catch average.
Miller, an All-Mid-American Conference First-Team choice for the second straight season, led the league and ranks second in the country with a 46.26 average. He punted 57 times for 2,637 yards with a long punt of 78 yards.
