We’ve turned the corner!  The past few weeks have been much improved, and we are currently on a (much needed) three game win streak.  That puts us in a tie for second place in the West Division (and overall) in the MAC.  Honestly, it feels great to be winning again.  With such a young team, I was starting to get impatient wondering if we were getting better.  It’s funny, not to mention a huge relief, when you finally see it click.  I think it actually happened in the second half of the Western Michigan game at home on January 12.  We ended up loosing in overtime on a last second shot, but we gained a lot of confidence coming back from a substantial halftime deficit.  And since that game, we have stepped up our play and managed a strong win at Buffalo and two come-from-behind wins again Northern and Kent State.  Certainly the obstacles on our team have not subsided with Dana being injured in a car accident and having to sit the rest of the season out and Raechelle and Becca both missing a game due to small injuries.  However, I feel every time there is a set back, someone new steps up and plays great, which in my mind is the mark of a great team.  We will certainly be tested in the next two weeks as we head to Western Michigan tomorrow to revenge our home loss just two weeks ago.  We play Miami at home on Sunday (our sellout game) which starts a blitz of four games in ten days, all against top MAC teams.  The sense of finality is starting hit home with me as I realize I have only ten regular season game left.   I find myself trying to savor the little things that I know I’m going to miss when my career at Ball State is over and make the most of upcoming games!

Ball State Women’s Basketball player Kate Endress is kind enough to share a weekly journal with GoBSU.com readers. Kate, a senior from Evansville (Evansville Memorial H.S.), was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team last season as well as being first team All-MAC. Kate is a likely candidate for MAC Player Of The Year this season, as well as all the academic awards she will undoubtedly receive. It is a very special treat to have Kate share this journal with us. Thank you Kate!
